Mid-Continent Public Library is a consolidated library district and a tax-supported political subdivision that is governed by a twelve-member board, four each from Jackson, Platte, and Clay Counties. The library was founded in the year 1964. Jackson County Librarian, James A. Leathers, was influential in the creation of a regional library system and became the first Director of Mid-Continent Public Library Service. The Mid-Continent Public Library became fully automated in 1994 with circulation, intra-library loan, and in-branch online public access catalog module.

More than 900 dedicated staff members work together every day to answer questions, find the right resources, recommend interesting books, and help solve challenges in customers’ lives at Mid-Continent Public Library. MCPL’s offerings range widely from free Wi-Fi and study space to ESL classes and Tax Help for Seniors.

This will take you to your account once you have created one. If you want to create a new account then click on the link “Create an account” where you will be able to sign up and create a new account for MCPL. To create a new account you have to enter some of your personal information like:

  • Library Card.
  • First Name.
  • Last Name.
  • Home Branch Library Location.
  • Favorite Genre.
  • Event Type you are interested in.
  • Your Age Group.

The information provided is used to personalize your account to reflect your interests, narrow your searches, and to notify you of events you would most be interested in attending. Once you have accepted the Terms and Conditions and answered the character Captcha you will be able to create your new account.
